Look Like Me?

These are photos of my grandpa Dillion and my grandma. My mom says they look like me but I don’t look at myself all the time so I didn’t immediately see the resemblance. :)

My Fight at IMMAE

Well, the International MMA Expo for the Southwest was held at Rawhide last weekend (October 11th). The expo was quite a disappointment as myself and everyone else there seemed to really be expecting more out of the event based on the advertising and hype. I registered to compete in the MMA tournament at 155 pounds. Despite the poor event, the tournament fights held on Saturday night were pretty good.

I think there were issues matching up guys in the proper weight classes too. Several guys obviously looked mismatched and several backed out of fights. I was anxious to fight but the guy I was matched up with was also obviously bigger than me. I won the fight by armbar in the second round but left the cage with a bruised rib and shoulder. Regardless, it was an awesome experience and I can’t wait to do it again. :)

Adventos

March 2007 - June 2007
Adventos, Phoenix, AZ (
http://www.adventos.com/)
Architect

I was contacted by Adventos to be the lead architect for a complete redesign of the Maricopa County Superior Court case management system. The new system integrates and utilizes Visual Studio Team System, Team Foundation Server, Windows SharePoint Services, SQL Server 2005, ASP .NET AJAX, the .NET Framework 3.5 technologies, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, MQ Series, Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager 2007, and Active Directory. We are spending approximately 6 weeks in the initial design phase and then approximately 18 months designing the new system.

I was responsible for designing both the hardware and software required for the new systems. Hardware purchases for development, testing, training, production, reporting, certificate services, and disaster recovery was in excess of 1.5 million dollars. The hardware and software plan was confirmed with Microsoft. I was asked to write a white paper once the new system is designed and in production. Maricopa County is the largest county in the country and the new system will serve as a model case management system for all courts throughout the United States.

The initial design phase was completed successfully but the system design and development phase was not immediately pursued.

System.Windows.Xps - Add Reference

I was made aware that some have had an issue referencing classes in the System.Windows.Xps namespace and have been unable to locate the namespace for adding a reference.

It is typical for Microsoft to name assemblies using the same name as the primary namespace whose classes are contained in the assembly. However, occasionally, they make an exception and name the assembly something different than the name of the namespace contained therein; particularly when the namespace was created by another vendor.

This exception applies in the case of the assembly that contains the System.Windows.Xps namespace. If you have the .NET Framework 3 installed, you should have the correct assembly installed as well but be sure to look for it under the name of ReachFramework when adding a reference.

Hope this helps! :)
